Scots Twitter reacted to Nicola Sturgeon's lockdown easing announcement today.

Twitter

This afternoon, the First Minister said that lockdown restrictions across Scotland should be 'significantly eased' by late April.

  • Ms Sturgeon gave evidence for eight hours on many aspects of the events surrounding the allegations, including claims she broke the ministerial code. Hundreds of tweets gave her the thumbs up. Tweets also suggested the SNP enjoyed a 5,000 rise in membership as a result. Not everyone, of course, was impressed by the First Minister’s performance.
  • 2 days ago  NICOLA STURGEON's dream of ending a 300-year-old union is perverse and will be much more costly than Brexit, a trade expert has told Express.co.uk.

She revealed that non-essential shops, gyms, hospitality businesses and hairdressers could all reopen with social distancing measures in place if coronanvirus transmission continues to fall across the country.

One such claim, which was shared on Twitter nearly 400 times and liked over 1,800 times, asked why Hamilton was chosen to lead the probe, “when he was associated with Sturgeon and the SNP”. It added he should have “recused himself on the grounds of conflict of interest”.

The existing stay at home restriction will be lifted by April 5, with people being able to meet in larger groups outdoors, under the Scottish Government's latest routemap out of lockdown.

The FM took a slightly different approach to Boris Johnson, who effectively stated that on the 21st of June, there will be no more restrictions - something that Nicola Sturgeon said she cannot guarantee.

And Scots took to Twitter to react.

Many felt deflated by the news.

Scots Squad's Darren Connell said: 'Sorry if I’m not buzzing about the news today, I’m absolutely numb to it and just finished a fast early because what’s the point?....with a cake obviously. Bedtime at 3pm, a new day tomorrow.'

Ru Paul's Drag Race star Lawrence Chaney said: 'THE END OF APRIL?!? jeeezzzzz.'

Another Twitter user said: 'I don’t know about anyone else but yesterday with an end date (although it may be changed) given I felt a bit optimistic. Today’s announcement about Scotland’s tier systems has absolutely scunnered me completely.'

While some praised the First Minister for her approach.

One said: 'Boris Johnson is setting people up for disappointment making promises of normal life when he cannot guarantee anything. I for one would rather Nicola Sturgeon didn’t put dates on things for it to go wrong and for us to be disappointed again.'

While one added: 'I'd rather wait and then when she thinks it's time let us just get back to normal, no restrictions and never go back into lockdown again.'
